It is with great sadness that we must say goodbye to Life Member Bruce Bennett.
Bruce lived in Nokesville Virginia. He was a active member of the Nokesville Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department and Rescue Squad until his retirement from active volunteer service. Bruce volunteered for 20 years serving in many roles: Firefighter, Bingo Chairman, Treasurer, Vice President & President. He was the first volunteer Paramedic for the department when they transitioned to Advanced Life Support ambulances. During that time, Bruce became a state EMT Instructor and taught classes for other volunteer Fire & EMS stations in Prince William County.
Bruce loved life. Growing up, he was the youngest Eagle Scout in New Jersey at 13. Cooking, swimming, brewing beer, watching the Manchester United and the Philadelphia Eagles keep him busy throughout the years. He and his wife Nancy enjoyed cruising to many countries; watching the Fall Migration of Hawks in Virginia and at Cape May New Jersey. Another treat for him was a day of watching the Bald Eagles at the Conowingo Dam in Maryland. Bruce loved to be at the beaches at Ocean City or Wildwood New Jersey. He would say he needed a yearly salt water fix.
The members of Nokesville Vol. Fire and Rescue Dept send our prayers to his family.
