On May 7th, just before 3am Monday morning, Nokesville VFD (and surrounding fire departments) responded to a house fire on Windy Ridge Lane. The house was entirely destroyed by the fire, and the Passaro family lost almost everything they owned. Thankfully, the fire did not result in any loss of life.

Now displaced by the fire and waiting on insurance support, the Passaros are staying with a neighbor temporarily until Saturday the 12th, at which point they will check into the Candlewood Suites in Manassas for the rest of the month of May. In the wake of this tremendous loss, the family is getting by on the generosity of their family and neighbors.

Nokesville Vol. Fire and Rescue Dept is starting a donation drive to assist them. The family wanted to express their gratitude to all responding units that night and the efforts everyone put forth to try and save their home.

The Passaro family has asked for donations in the form of gift cards, or prepaid cards to cover the most immediate expenses such as clothes, food and groceries, toiletries, and personal items. The family has two 5th Grade age sons that are avid readers, and lost all of their books in the fire and greatly miss the pleasure of reading. Any books that are age appropriate have also been requested.

There will be a collection box placed at Fire Station 25 (9405 Devlins Grove Pl, Bristow VA) for books and other small items. Gift cards can be dropped off and will be placed in Assistant Chief Conway or Lt. Chamberlin mailbox to be given to the family.

Additionally, if you wish to send the Passaro family a package or letter their mailing address at the Candlewood Suites is:

11220 Balls Ford Rd. Manassas, VA 20109

The manager is expecting packages for them and they will be delivered if addressed to the family. Thank you all so much.
