April 11, 2018

On a beautiful but cool morning members of Nokesville Vol Fire and Rescue Dept., Prince William County Board of Supervisors, Prince William County Dept of Fire Rescue and Prince William County Public Works gathered to hold the official groundbreaking of the new Fire Station 5.

The new 18,000 square foot station will be built next to the current fire station 5 on property owned by the volunteer department and members. Doing so saved the tax payers of Prince William County the additional cost of purchasing land in the Nokesville area. This station will have 6 bays, 3 facing the front of the station and 3 facing the rear of the station. The station will house 2 ambulances, 2 engines, 1 tanker and a brush unit.

Brentsville District Supervisor Jeanine Lawson attended the ceremony and said she was pleased to be at the groundbreaking. "I really feel a sense of accomplishment already to stand here this morning and join so many of you for this groundbreaking. I'm thrilled that we are here today to build the new big sister to this building that has served the community for so long."

The Nokesville Vol. Fire and Rescue Dept. was established in 1946. The current station was built in 1963 and has gone through a number of renovations but has exceeded its planned 25 year life span.

The new station will bring additional space for training, storing equipment, modern and functional office space and exercise room. The volunteers hope to move in to the new station late summer 2019.

Units: Engines - 505 and 505B Ambulances - 505 and 505B Tanker 505 Brush 505
