All Members providing 30 hours per month of service are eligible for benefits, including:

• Length of Service Award Program (LOSAP)
• Free PWC Vehicle Sticker and reduced Personal Property Tax Rate for one vehicle

Whether you are interested in applying for membership or just curious, we invite you to drop by Station 5 or Station 25 for a tour of the building and equipment and for a chance to meet some of our members, weeknights between between 6 and 9 PM, or weekends between 9 AM and 9 PM. We look forward to meeting you!

Membership Categories

Active Membership
The department's focus is providing fire suppression, rescue, and emergency medical services to the community at large. Our Active Members are on the front line providing these services as Firefighters and EMTs. The time commitment is considerable, but so is the satisfaction you'll receive!
Minimum 30 hours per month, including • Assigned to a regular shift, every 6 nights, overnight: 1800-0600 Mon-Thu, 1800-1200 Fri, 1200-1200 Sat, 1200-0600 Sun

• Monthly company business meeting, first Tuesday
• Required training classes: 
  - CPR (8 hours)
  - Infection Control (8 hours)
  - Hazardous Materials Awareness (8 hours)
  - Critical Incident Stress Management (8 hours)
  - Firefighter Level I or EMT-Basic Certification (140 hours) (you are welcome and encouraged to do both, but must complete at least one)
• Periodic station-wide drills (typically twice a year on a weekend day)
• If that doesn't fill your plate, don't worry, there are plenty of opportunities for extra shifts, fill-ins at other stations, additional and advanced training, committee activities, and much much more.

Business Membership
So you want to help us out and be involved but are not interested in serving as an EMT or Firefighter? We are in need of Business Members with experience in, or a desire to help with:

• Fund Raising Activities
• Office Skills
• Marketing
• Financial Skills
• Organizational Skills
• "What Would You Like to Do?" Skills

Junior Membership
If you are still in High School, but are at least 16 years old and would like to learn about Fire and EMS services, then the Junior Program may be what you're looking for.

• Program for 16-18 year old students
• Requires parental consent
• Requires minimum "C" average in school
• There are some restrictions including not being able to drive any appartus or stay overnight on school nights
• Same training requirements and opportunities as Active Members
• Assigned to a regular shift as Active Members

Auxiliary Membership
The NVFD Auxiliary is a separate organization that supports the fire department in several important roles, including:

• Hall Rental
• Catering
• Canteen
- The Canteen provides meals and refreshments for large-scale or extended fireground operations.
